A sliding nozzle generally consists of a drive mechanism, a mechanical component, and a refractory material section (i.e., upper and lower slides and the lower nozzle). The operating principle of a sliding nozzle is to use a sliding mechanism to slide the upper and lower slides, thereby opening and closing the steel flow hole to adjust the molten steel flow rate.
The sliding nozzle structure includes a mechanical component and a drive (manual or hydraulic). It operates in two modes:
(1) Linear reciprocating type: When the slide plate makes linear reciprocating motion, the steel flow is controlled by adjusting the steel flow hole between the sliding plate and the fixed plate.
(2) Rotary type: The sliding plate makes a rotational motion to adjust the size of the steel flow hole and control the flow rate of molten steel.
